Brett Smrz Racing News
Hey everyone!
The last week of filming for Knight and Day went very well. Everything ran smoothly for them, and they got what they needed. I was running around in a "running of the bulls" outfit the entire week! There will be some CG bulls running behind all of us once it is all made.
I also got to play my own part in the movie. I was Eduardo's driver. I was doubling the driver, so you will only see me when he dies. (He's a bad guy it is obvious he was going to die anyway!)
My friends Russell Soleburg and Corey Eubanks got to do the fun stunt! Corey did a 360 spin in a tight space as Russell did a cannon roll right behind him. I was on the street as a bystander during the shot, so I got a front row seat to see it!
Today we are...
It is my 19th birthday today! I don't think I'm doing anything special for it. I might go bowling, may go hang out with a few friends, and definitely going to go to dinner with my family! I think I might go eat at Chili's, but my mom hates Chili's. So, I think I might have to settle with something else.
I didn't ask for the camera I want for my birthday, simply because it is way too expensive as a present. I am definitely saving up for it though! I want the Canon EOS 7D with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L, EF 16-35mm f/2.8 II USM, EF 24-70 mm f/2.8 L USM, and TS-E 17mm f/4L. Expensive wish list for now, but I will take the time to save up for it!

Hey everyone!
I haven't written a blog in a while, so I figured I would update it. I will be working on the movie Knight and Day next week. I have already worked on it previously in Boston, MA doing stunt driving, and I will be doing it again. It truly is one of the coolest jobs in the world. Nothing better than crashing cars, or watching people crash cars.
I also might be heading up to Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA this Thursday/Friday to test in the Jim Russell car. I have been out of the car for a couple of months, so I hope I can get up there and get some more seat time. The season comes up in April, and I can't wait to race again!
I hope everyone is doing well!
Regards,
Brett...
Hey Everyone!
As some of you may know, I am staying down in Los Angeles, California for about a month; if not more. I have a stunt driving job coming up this Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium on the TV show NCIS. I am keeping busy, and getting jobs to help with my racing budget for this season!
Last night I went to visit a friend (Christina) who I haven't seen in about a year! She brought some friends along, and we had a pretty eventful day! The first thing we did was we went out and got some gelato ice cream with our moms. After that, we walked over to Hugo's Restaurant, where I saw my buddy Robb Alonzo (A fellow stunt man).
After we were done eating there, we decided to go to a Cafe shop in downtown LA, called the Bourgeois Pig....
Hi everyone!
I just got home from LA after working on a Clean and Clear commercial. I was a teenager driving a couple of cute girls around near a lake. You just might get to see me when I am getting out of the car, but you might not! It was my first commercial job, and I had a lot of fun doing it.
I am going to be heading back down to California this Thursday in search of some more stunt jobs. I can't wait to get back in the race car though. Hopefully I will get to test the Russell car...

Three months ago, few people outside of the Skip Barber Racing School in North America would have recognized the names Connor De Phillippi or Brett Smrz. However, by the conclusion of their first ever overseas foray to England in late October the pair had earned instant acclaim due to their outstanding performances in the traditional Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch and the equally prestigious Walter Hayes Trophy Formula Ford race at Silverstone.
De Phillippi (pronounced DEE phi-LEE-pee) and Smrz (smurrs) were the latest in a long list of drivers to have been granted an opportunity to display their talents on the international stage by the Team USA Scholarship, which has been assisting talented young American drivers in the early...
Hey Everyone,
First off, I would like to say Happy New Years! I hope everyone had as good of I year as I had last year.
I had tons of fun this year in 2009. It was probably one of the better years for me. I raced in the Mazda MX-5 Cup (which is always interesting..), the Skip Barber National Series, and the Jim Russell Championship Series. I ended the year with 50% top 5's in both MX-5 Cup and Skip Barber, and I won 8/10 Jim Russell races (as well as the championship). The Skip Barber and MX-5 were a bit rough for me this year, but I learned a lot from them.
I was also picked for the Team USA Scholarship, and got to race at two very well known tracks; Brands Hatch and Silverstone. I also got to see McLaren's Technical Center and...
Hey Everyone.
I just heard news this morning that I have been bumped up to 3rd place in the Formula Ford Festival results! One of the drivers in front of me was disqualified for an illegal carburetor. Unfortunately, it was Scott Malvern, my team mate from the Festival whom I was chasing the entire weekend.
As we are all upset that Scott was DQ'd, due to an accident in the carburetor, I am saddened deeply. The Malvern's were kind enough to lend me their car for the Ford Festival and the Walter Hayes Trophy. Scott was driving in a rental car, which is the car that had the issues. I wanted to thank the Malvern's for being so kind as to let me borrow their car while I was in England. If they hadn't done that, his 2nd place would still be...
No doubt about it, Jeremy Shaw's Team USA has seriously hit its stride in the past two years. Josef Newgarden and Conor Daly did a great job for Team USA in last year's UK Formula Ford Festival and Walter Hayes Trophy race while Connor De Phillippi and Brett Smrz followed up this year with some equally impressive performances. Smrz came through from the back of the field to finish fourth at last month's Brands Hatch FF Festival while De Phillippi won the Walter Hayes race at Silverstone two weeks later. De Phillippi beat Daly's record from last year to become the youngest man to win the Walter Hayes spectacular at 16 years, 10 months and six days old.
De Phillippi and Smrz were selected from a group of seven Team USA 2009 finalists. De...
