I am quite happy with my last day of practice. I am running times fast enough to win the main event. I was even quick in the rain.
It rained for the first session of the day today. I was very excited to be able to drive in the rain. Connor and I ended up being the two quickest drivers in the session by quite a bit. We were both dead even on the lap times, and we had 6 tenths of a second covered on the third place driver. After him, we were a second ahead. I would say we are in good shape if it rains here, but I don’t think it is going to rain this weekend. It should definitely rain at Silverstone, from what I hear. That track is much more slick in the rain as well. It should be a whole new experience again.
They are going to split the groups up for qualifying tomorrow. I am in group one, and my team mate Connor is in group 2. The groups are split up quite evenly. I would say that the groups each have about 4 fast cars that are quick enough to get the pole.
How the groups are going to work:
They have a big field, so they split the groups into two sessions. We will qualify in whatever group we are put in, and start from that position in our heat race. They will have 1 heat race per group. Depending on where you finish in your heat race, that is where you start in the main event. They will decide the positions through quick lap times during the heats as well.
It is a bit confusing, but I will keep you guys on a pretty good understanding later on.
I had a bit of a close call today…There was a 2 car incident at the exit of Paddock Hill, and they didn’t have the yellow flags out yet. The corner is very fast, and downhill. I was already committed to full speed through the corner so I had to think quickly. I split the two of the cars on the exit curb, and just barely made it through. Thank God. :)
I’ll speak to everyone tomorrow.
