Behind The Wheel With Brett Smrz
Hey everyone,
I am still currently working on my racing plans for 2012. I have a test with a race team sometime this month, and will update on the site when/how it goes.
I just got back from working on One Shot in Pittsburgh, PA. I got to hang out in the Burgh for 7 weeks, which was really awesome. The food there was pretty good, and I got to go to a lot of different restaurants. I also went to a Pittsburgh Steelers football game and sat in the 18th row, center field! That was my first football game, and it was awesome! I got myself a jersey and got to witness all of the crazy tailgaters in the city! If you were walking around the city without a jersey on, you felt left out.
I also got to go see a Pittsburgh Penguins hockey...
I picked up a new hobby! Rock climbing is such a fun sport. It reminds me of my old childhood days of climbing up the Lopez's huge tree with my best friend Joel. I went out to Stony point two days ago with Casey Pieretti, and helped out for a shot with his climbing foot that he has made. I didn't get to try it out unfortunately, but it was still awesome to watch him climb with it. I went out to Rockreation last night with Courtney Schwartz, a fellow stunt girl, and played around for a few hours. I ended up getting a membership there, and I will definitely be going back out. If anyone in the LA area wants to climb, head on out to Rockreation and maybe I'll see you there!
Thanks go out to Five Ten climbing shoes for providing me with the...
Well...this weekend didn't go too well for me. We started out in Saturday practice feeling the kart out, getting used to driving the kart again, and dialing in the setup. We were having some big motor problems all day, and was losing about 1 second on the back straight away. We found a new motor to run for Sunday, given to us by Phil and Everett Giebler; I can't thank them enough. The motor seemed to be working really well in the morning. I was running some decent times, and was ready for qualifying.
I went out for qualifying, made about half a lap, and the motor shut off. We brought it in and noticed that the spark plug wire was loose. The track officials graciously allowed me to do a Green/Checkered. You honestly need 2 laps, at...
Hey Everyone!
Wow, it has been a while since I have blogged on my website! I wouldn't be surprised if nobody looks at this blog, but I figure it is only fair that I update everyone on my status for this season.
First off, things have been going great for me. I haven't been racing, but my stunt career is really starting to kick off. I've been doing some car commercials, TV shows, and some movies as well! Check out the resume section of my website to see the latest things that I have worked on. The last few things for me have been; The Mentalist, The Amazing Spiderman, X:Men First Class, and a FIAT commercial, which I am still currently working on. (Hint: They might be coming to America soon!)
As for the racing side of it. I think...
Hey Everyone!
I haven't written a blog in some time. I haven't been doing too much racing this year. I've only competed in two races all season, which is a bummer. I am planning on running in the Formula Ford Festival in England at Brands Hatch on October 16-17 in the Kent (Ford 1600) class again with Cliff Dempsey Racing. I had a blast last year, and it was a really great experience, so I am going back for some more!
My stunt career, on the other hand, is starting to get going at a bit more steady of a pace. I just worked on a Honda Accord commercial on Monday - Wednesday. It consisted of precision driving with the Camera Car Industries camera car. A camera car is the sickest SUV you will ever see in your life! Check out their...
Hey Everybody,
I just wanted to update everyone that I am going back home (Idaho) for a little while. As of right now, I will be home for about a month. The reason I am going home is because my parents are trying really hard to sell the house, and I need to clean out my room of all of my junk! I just bought a 2006 Mazda 3 Hatchback, and I have to get that registered in Idaho as well.
I decided to stop by Sonoma, CA on the way back home to visit with my friends for a few days. We have been having a good time, playing poker and going fishing! Everything seems to be working out for the good right now, amd I will keep everyone posted and up to date on things. I'm looking forward to my drive home tomorrow!
I have a stunt race in a few...
Hey Everyone,
I received news a few days ago that the first Jim Russell race weekend has been canceled. I was told it was due to lack of drivers in the race series. There were 5 drivers entered in the first race weekend, but they were all racing for free. I am referring to the race dated April 16-18. If anyone was planning on going to watch, this is your notice that it has been canceled.
With this unfortunate news, I am planning for the worst. They haven't said anything yet, but the series may be in financial trouble if they are canceling their first race weekend. I will be working hard at trying to find some money to do some one off races throughout the season. If the entire Jim Russell Championship Series season is canceled, my...
Hey everyone,
I went rock climbing for the first time on Saturday at Stony Point. I went with my best friend Joel, who had just come over from Flagstaff, AZ. There was also Ryan, Sara, and Elise tagging along in the group. After the rock climbing, we decided to walk around the vicinity and do some trail climbing. It was mostly everyone’s first time climbing, so it was fun to watch and a good overall experience. I had a lot of fun, and it was a great work out in places that I noticed I haven’t worked on before, so I might end up doing it again some time soon!
After the rock climbing, we went back to Joel’s house and had a barbecue. We also played some volley ball in his backyard, and shot a couple games of pool. It was an...
Hey everyone!
The last week of filming for Knight and Day went very well. Everything ran smoothly for them, and they got what they needed. I was running around in a "running of the bulls" outfit the entire week! There will be some CG bulls running behind all of us once it is all made.
I also got to play my own part in the movie. I was Eduardo's driver. I was doubling the driver, so you will only see me when he dies. (He's a bad guy it is obvious he was going to die anyway!)
My friends Russell Soleburg and Corey Eubanks got to do the fun stunt! Corey did a 360 spin in a tight space as Russell did a cannon roll right behind him. I was on the street as a bystander during the shot, so I got a front row seat to see it!
Today we are...
It is my 19th birthday today! I don't think I'm doing anything special for it. I might go bowling, may go hang out with a few friends, and definitely going to go to dinner with my family! I think I might go eat at Chili's, but my mom hates Chili's. So, I think I might have to settle with something else.
I didn't ask for the camera I want for my birthday, simply because it is way too expensive as a present. I am definitely saving up for it though! I want the Canon EOS 7D with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L, EF 16-35mm f/2.8 II USM, EF 24-70 mm f/2.8 L USM, and TS-E 17mm f/4L. Expensive wish list for now, but I will take the time to save up for it!
