The 2009 Jim Russell Championship Series resumed over the weekend (September 12-13), with Rounds 11 and 12 taking place at Infineon Raceway in Northern California. Defending series champion Brett Smrz was the driver to beat in the doubleheader, leading Aleks Altberg and Gregory Liefooghe to the checkered flag in race one, before scoring the win ahead of Nick Galante and Altberg in race two.

SONOMA, CALIF. (August 18, 2009) – American Brett Smrz continued his dazzling return to the Jim Russell Championship Series this past weekend (August 15-16), winning Rounds Nine and Ten from the pole position. The up-and-coming racing talent has now won all four races he has contested since rejoining the series.

A month after making a return to the Jim Russell Championship Series, Smrz was back behind the wheel of the Formula 3 equivalent FJR-50 car at Infineon Raceway in Northern California.
